Hascal Oscar Dodge, 82, of Lenox

Hascal Oscar Dodge, 82, of Lenox, passed away on August 8, 2024, at Mount Carmel Care Center. He was the eldest son of the late Harold O. Dodge and Mildred D. Dodge of Pittsfield. He was born in Pittsfield on June 3, 1942; educated in the Pittsfield school system; and graduated from the former Monson Academy in Monson, Mass. He graduated from Norwich University in Northfield, Vt., in 1964 with a BS in engineering. Upon graduation, he accepted a commission in the Army Corps of Engineers. He served his active duty at Fort Bliss Texas and in Vietnam with a construction battalion.

After his military service, Hascal joined his father Harold as the fourth generation in the over-100-year-old family business: Dodge Construction Company. They provided underground construction and rock-blasting services in the western Massachusetts area.

On June 3, 1972, Hascal and Jeanne Richmany were married at Saint Mark’s Church in Pittsfield. They and their daughter Jennifer lived in Lenox, where Hascal served on the town of Lenox DPW board. He was also a member of the Pittsfield Cemetery Commission. The family construction business was sold in 1986. Hascal relocated to the Boston area, and at Modern Continental Construction Co., he worked on several Big Dig projects in Boston. He then worked for CDM Smith, an international Engineering and construction company, retiring in 2016.

Hascal leaves his wife of 52 years Jeanne; his daughter Jennifer Litherland and her husband Jeffrey Litherland; his brother James Dodge and his wife Michele; his sisters-in-laws Nancy Copper and her husband Perry and Beverly Richmany; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Hascal is predeceased by his sister Leslie Martindale, his sister-in-law Margaret George, and his brother-in-law Jimmy Richmany.

Robert ‘Bob’ Hebert, 89, of Monterey

Bob won over 100 races in his career. He was voted SVRA Driver of the Year. He was inducted into the Road Racing Drivers Club, along with such others as Mario Andretti and Stirling Moss. Today, two of Bob’s four grandchildren continue his racing legacy.

Christopher Riddle, 74, of Marlboro, Vt.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, Sept. 6, 2024, at 1 p.m., at Elmwood Cemetery in Great Barrington, conducted by Rev. William P. Murphy.
