Harvey Notis, 93, of Pittsfield and Great Barrington

After graduating from Pace University, he went on to become the Chief Executive Officer of Stakelum-Lints Inc., a prominent oil delivery company based in Cedarhurst, Long Island.

Harvey Notis, 93, a resident of Pittsfield Massachusetts, died March 13, 2015, at Epoch Assisted Living at Melbourne.  Mr. Notis was a resident of Great Barrington and Pittsfield for nearly 50 years.

He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on May 1, 1921, son of Julius and Beatrice Maltinsky Notis. He was raised in Far Rockaway, N.Y., and attended Sewanaka High School in Floral Park, Queens as well as Arnold College in New Haven Conn. He then worked as an airplane sheet metal worker at Grumman Aircraft Company, in Bethpage, N.Y.

Mr. Notis joined the United States Army in 1942 and served throughout World War II as an airplane mechanic at Randolph Field in San Antonio, Texas. He was discharged as a sergeant in 1946 and then attended Pace University where he earned his degree, and subsequently became a Certified Public Accountant. He went on to become the Chief Executive Officer of Stakelum-Lints Inc., a prominent oil delivery company based in Cedarhurst, Long Island.

His beloved wife of over 60 years, Marion Notis died in 2006. He is also pre-deceased by his Sister, Haidee Schlussel of Coconut Creek, Fla. Survivors include a niece, Leslie Calman of Washington, D.C.; a nephew, Jeffrey Calman, of Santa Monica, Calif., and three other nephews and many great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral services and burial for Harvey Notis, who died on March 13, 2015 were private at the Ahavath Sholom Cemetery in Great Barrington, Mass. Birches-Roy Funeral Home, 33 South Street Great Barrington, Mass., was in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be made through birchesroyfuneralservices.com.

The funeral of Mrs. Marjorie A. Prince will be Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. at St. Ann's Church, with the Rev. Monsignor John J. Bonzagni, Pastor, celebrating the Liturgy. Burial will follow in St. Ann's Cemetery. There are no calling hours.

A small, intimate gathering for close family and friends will be held at Birches-Roy Funeral Home on Monday March 9, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. A private burial will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
