Hannah W. Agar, 73, of Egremont, Mass., owner of Sally Dean Dress Shop

Hannah worked in retail most of her life and was the owner of “Sally Dean Dress Shop” in Great Barrington.

Hannah W. Agar, 73, of Egremont, Mass., passed away on November 17, 2015.

Born in Great Barrington, Mass., on December 5, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Edward R. and Kathleen O’Connell Wyman. She was a graduate of Doane Stuart formerly Kenwood Academy of the Sacred Heart in Albany, N.Y. She also attended Endicott College in Boston.

She married Stephen Agar on December 19, 1970 and they lived in South Egremont, Mass., where they raised their two sons.

Hannah worked in retail most of her life and was the owner of “Sally Dean Dress Shop” in Great Barrington. She worked in other clothing shops including “Main Street” in Great Barrington. She also worked in the time share industry.

Hannah loved her family and her large circle of friends, all of whom will miss her dearly. She loved their trips to Cape Cod and especially her time spent at their place in Hilton Head, S.C.

Hannah was a “Friend of Bill’s” for 40 plus years, of which she was very proud.

She is survived by her husband Stephen, her two sisters Nancy W. Heady and Betsy W. Wildman, her two grandchildren Garrett and Jena Whalen, her daughter–in-law Wilma Whalen, and her sisters-in-law Eunice Agar and Linda Agar Hendrix and brother-in-law Rodney Agar and his wife Julie. She also leaves her nieces and nephews.

Hannah was pre-deceased by both her sons, J. Mason Whalen and Timothy R. Whalen, her brother Edward R. Wyman, Jr. and her first husband John “Scoopy” Whalen.

There will be a memorial service for the late Hannah W. Agar on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at 11 a.m. at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME in Great Barrington with calling hours preceding the service beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow the service at Hillside Cemetery in North Egremont.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, Jan. 30, from 4 to 6 p.m., at Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home. A Liturgy of Christian Mass will be delivered on Friday, Jan. 31, at 10 a.m., at St. Peter's Church in Great Barrington, the Rev. William Murphy officiating.

Thomas P. Atwood, 86, of Great Barrington

A Funeral Mass for Thomas P. Atwood will be held on Monday, January 27, at 10 a.m., with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at Saint Peter’s Church in Great Barrington, with Reverend William P. Murphy Pastor officiating. Burial will follow in Saint Peter’s Cemetery.

Maureen Jane Johnson Hickey, 86, of Great Barrington and Naples, Fla.

There will be a private burial at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Great Barrington, with a memorial service in the spring.
