Habitat for Humanity announces Fair Housing Lottery for 82 and 84 Robbins Avenue in Pittsfield

Completed applications must be submitted by 4 p.m. on October 31. Habitat highly recommends that anyone interested in applying for homeownership apply early to be sure all of your financial documents are complete.

Pittsfield — Central Berkshire Habitat for Humanity (CBHFH) announced on Tuesday, September 3, the opening of a Fair Housing Lottery for the sales of two units located at 82 and 84 Robbins Avenue on the West Side in Pittsfield. The lottery period runs for 60 days beginning on September 1, 2024, and applications are now available in English and Spanish on the Habitat website and at Habitat’s office at 314 Columbus Ave in Pittsfield. For those who don’t have printers, application packets are also available at Pittsfield City Hall, at the Berkshire Athenaeum, and at Heathway Inc. in Pittsfield.

Applicants should be first-time homebuyers, able to secure a mortgage pre-approval, and earn between 50 and 80 percent of the Pittsfield Area Median Income depending on household size. Full information sessions will be held via Zoom on Thursday, September 19, at 2 p.m., and pre-registration for this meeting is required here. If you cannot make this meeting, it will be recorded and posted on the same page after the meeting. Additionally, there will be an opportunity to view the homes at an open house and attend an in-person full info session on Saturday, September 21, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Pre-registration for this open house/info session is also required here. These info sessions are meant to assist applicants who wish to know more about the lottery process and how to apply for the lottery successfully.

The lottery drawing for each home will be held at the Habitat office and broadcast via Zoom on Friday, November 15, 2024, at 4 p.m.

These homes are 1,216 square feet each, and both are two-story, three-bedroom, two-bath units designed for aging in place with a bedroom and bath located on the first floor. The sale price for each unit will be $140,000. The downstairs for each unit is an open-concept design combining the kitchen/dining area and living area. The kitchens feature Energy Star appliances and modern cabinet design. Both units have large closets, Kohler kitchen and bath fixtures, Levolor blinds installed, and highly energy-efficient mini splits for heat/AC.
