Great Barrington town elections: Candidate profiles

The town’s annual election will be held Tuesday May 12, in an election that could determine a significant change in the focus of town leadership. There are contests for the four open seats on major town boards, two on the Selectboard and two on the Finance Committee. Polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Great Barrington — The town’s annual election will be held Tuesday May 12. Polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

There are contests for the four open seats on major town boards: two on the Selectboard and two on the Finance Committee.

For the Selectboard there are three candidates vying for the two open seats. The candidates are incumbent Sean Stanton and newcomers Karen Christensen and Bill Cooke. Profiles on each of these three candidates, based on interviews with Heather Bellow, have been posted in the News section of The Edge. Candidates for the open two seats on the Finance Committee are incumbent Walter F. “Buddy” Atwood III, Eugene “Will” Curletti, and Patrick Fennell. Finance Committee Chair Sharon Gregory, whose term expires this year, decided not to seek re-election.

Candidates for Moderator are David Magadini and incumbent Edward McCormick.

Candidates for Board of Health are Peter Stanton and incumbent Ron Majdalany.
