Great Barrington Board of Health recommendation should not be ignored
To the editor:
On January 13, the Great Barrington selectboard will hold a special permit hearing on Fulcrum, LLC‘s application to develop 5-plus acres in the cultivation and manufacturing of marijuana adjacent to a residential Van Duesenville neighborhood. Planning and conservation boards have submitted recommendations to the selectboard. The board of health has voted against the application, but its recommendation has been disallowed because of a procedural issue ( timing ). It seems that the recommendation was not submitted in time given legal constraints.
A board as important as health should not have its input dismissed regarding any issue because of a technicality. I am hopeful that individual members of the selectboard will attend the hearing and explain their concerns.
