Lenox — During the 3rd Berkshire District state representative candidates forum at Kimball Farms on Wednesday, September 25, Democratic candidate Leigh Davis announced that she has received an endorsement from Gov. Maura Healey.
The current vice chair of the Great Barrington Selectboard, Davis is running against Lenox Select Board member Marybeth Mitts. Davis said that she “was just on the phone with the governor a couple of days ago” and that the campaign had not yet made a formal announcement about the endorsement.
Davis’ campaign has received endorsements from by multiple organizations and individuals, including Planned Parenthood, the AFL-CIO, the Clean Water Action Fund, U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D – Mass.), U.S. Sen. Edward J. Markey (D – Mass.), and Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Campbell.
“These are individuals that don’t regularly endorse candidates,” Davis said regarding the endorsements. “There’s a lot of candidates in Massachusetts running, but [these people] have been following this campaign [in the 3rd Berkshire District]. They recognize the hard work that I’ve brought to this campaign and the hard work that I intend to give to the 3rd Berkshire District.”
