George Martin Coons, 40, of Sheffield

An avid outdoorsman George enjoyed hunting and fishing. He liked going to Lebanon Valley to watch the races.

George Martin Coons, 40, a longtime resident of Boardman Street in Sheffield, Mass., died on Thursday evening, August 4, 2016.

Born January 11, 1976 in Hudson, N.Y., he was the son of David E. Coons and Nancy Olmsted Coons. He attended Mount Everett High School in Sheffield and Taconic Hills in Hillsdale, N.Y.

An avid outdoorsman George enjoyed hunting and fishing. He liked going to Lebanon Valley to watch the races.

Throughout the years he worked for Joe Wilkinson & Sons Excavating Co. and Gingras Lumber Co., both in Sheffield.

Along with his parents his parents, David and Nancy Coons of Sheffield, George is survived by his sister Catherine Goewey, his brother-in-law Richard, his nephew Brenden David Goewey, as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 11 from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME in Great Barrington.
