Genevieve Jane Shaw Mathes, 75, of Lenox died Saturday, Dec. 6, at Berkshire Medical Center. Born Jan. 1, 1945, in Ellenburg, N.Y., the daughter of Leonard and Viola Beardsley Shaw, she attended local schools and was a 1963 graduate of Pittsfield High School. Mrs. Mathes was employed as a housekeeper for many years at Hillcrest Commons.
Survivors include son William A. Shaw and wife Lorena; daughter Amy E. Mathes Fosty and husband Christopher; and granddaughters Hailey E., Hannah A. and Heidi M. Fosty.
A private service will be conducted this week at the Roche Funeral Home in Lenox followed by burial in Mountain View Cemetery in Lenox. In lieu of flowers, donations in Genevieve’s memory may be made to Friends of Renal Dialysis in care of the funeral home, 120 Main St., Lenox, MA 01240.
