GB business shuffle: NEXT! Select Consignment moves to new location

One never knows what one will find. Today, for instance, there was a velvet Oscar de la Renta skirt, a couple of Kate Spade bags.

Great Barrington — A bit of panic ensued when loyal customers of NEXT! Select Consignment went to the store’s old location on South Main Street not realizing owner Faith DiVecchio had packed the shop up and moved it downtown. DiVecchio opened her new doors last Thursday (November 10).

NEXT! is now caddy corner to Rubi’s Cafe, facing the Triplex Cinema and parking lot, in the space last held by stationery store Cadeaux, which moved to Railroad Street. Many still fondly remember this location as Petria’s Boutique vintage clothing.

NEXT! has developed a following and reputation for quality since it opened in West Stockbridge in 2014, then quickly moved to Great Barrington. One never knows what one will find. Today, for instance, there was a velvet Oscar de la Renta skirt, a couple of Kate Spade bags, piles of cashmere sweaters, a shimmery Free People skirt snagged by yours truly, and lots of other goodies that will keep on rolling in.

The store had barely opened when Great Barrington fashion maven Roselle Chartock swept in with friend and activist Nan Wile, both of them kvelling over the new location.

DiVecchio says it already feels good to be downtown.

“More foot traffic,” Wile said.

“Better feng shui,” Chartock noted.

NEXT! Select Consignment is at 274 Main Street, Suite 2, (through the alley from Rubiner’s) Hours are 11-4 p.m., Thursday, Friday, Saturday; 12-4 p.m. on Sundays.
