GARY LEVEILLE: The Lee First National

The building later became the popular Adams Supermarket.

A small First National grocery store in Lee was located on Main Street until the late 1950s at the present-day site of MacCaro Real Estate. In 1961-62, the store moved to a new location on Park Street and became a supermarket as shown above. The second “Then” photograph shown, courtesy of Lee Library, was taken years later with manager Ralph Denley in front of the store.The building later became the popular Adams Supermarket. The site is now home to Walgreens Pharmacy, as shown in the bottom photograph.
