GARY LEVEILLE’s Then and Now: Sheffield Farm

The main house is still there, but the dairy barn and silo are long gone.

The Sheffield farmstead, shown above in the vintage aerial photograph, might not be immediately recognizable. It was likely taken in the 1940s or 1950s, along Route 7, on the north end of town. According to old business directories, the farm was owned by John and Mary Broggio from the 1940s through the 1960s. The main house, shown below, is still there – directly across the street from present-day Great Finds Antiques Center. The dairy barn and silo are long gone, and that portion of the farm is now home to Campo de’ Fiori Garden Center, also shown below.
