Gary Johnston, candidate for Stockbridge selectman

In his letter, Gary Johnston writes: My involvement with the town has been extensive and varied over the past 45 years which I feel validates the qualifications to be elected to the Select Board.

To the Editor:

I am running for the position of Selectman in the Town of Stockbridge.  The primary reason for my decision is to work without controversy for the good and betterment of all the town’s residents.  During the past couple of years in particular, there have been a noticeable polarization and dissension which has enveloped the town relating to certain departments and officials. As Selectman I will focus my energies on restoring and maintaining a positive relationship between town government and its residents without the controversy which is so counter-productive.

My involvement with the town has been extensive and varied over the past 45 years which I feel validates the qualifications to be elected to the Select Board. Past involvements include serving on the Board of Directors of the Laurel Hill Society; member of the Board of Directors of the Stockbridge Land Trust; ten years membership on the Finance Committee; 25 years member of the Stockbridge Fire Department Hose Company 4 Interlaken; 15 years President of the Stockbridge Sportsmen’s Club; Town Moderator for the past 37 years.

My election will result in a dedicated effort to work with all town officials and residents to continue to make Stockbridge the wonderful town it has been and as we all envision it to be.

Next Tuesday, September 15, is Election Day. I ask for your vote.

Gary Johnston
