West Stockbridge — On July 8, you will hardly do better than to get a cup of coffee at No. Six Depot and saunter over to the Old Town Hall to take in the Guild of Berkshire Artists‘ July show, “Art on Main.” Over 30 of the Guild’s 170 members are showing 125 works in oil, watercolor, acrylics, stained glass, sculpture, ceramics, mixed media, and wood working.
The following artists will be showing works in the show: Lori Bradley, Amy Pressman, Jill Kantor, Kay Lerner, Janet Pumphrey, ML Kammel, Luu Nguyen, Ilene Richard, Sarah Morrison, Margie Skaggs, Mollie Kellogg, Pat Hogan, Barbara Quart, Penny Pitts, Lear Levin, Sally Lebwohl, Theresa Terry, Michael Coyne, Dana Goedewaagen, Bruce Shickmanter, Louis Coco, Doris Bronson, Howard Greenhalgh, Richard Lerman, Lynne Horvath, Robert Horvath, Linda Hertz, Carolyn Abrams, Lorraine Klagsbrun, Preeti Kedia, Mitch Greenwald, Shany Porras, and MJ Marx.
There will be a reception for the artists July 9 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The nonprofit Guild of Berkshire Artists (GBA) was founded in 2014 as the Richmond/West Stockbridge Artists Guild, with its inaugural fine art show held that year at The Richmond Congregational Church. Ever since, the Guild has served Berkshire artists with lectures, artist demos, seminars, live model painting and sketching, plein air demonstrations, and other programs, not to mention innumerable shows of the type they’re presenting in this month. The Guild was practically unfazed by the pandemic, thanks to outdoor art shows and Zoom seminars.
The Guild’s studio tours provide members with real-time views of other Guild artists at work. They’ll be held in Pittsfield July 23-24 and Great Barrington August 20-21. (Nonmembers are invited to apply to the Guild to participate in one or two tours.)
On the National Register of Historic Places since 2009, West Stockbridge’s Old Town Hall is a destination unto itself. Built in 1854, the building has served a variety of community purposes over its 168-year existence. Thanks to years of effort on the part of the West Stockbridge Historical Society and their in-house fund-raising ensemble, the West Stockbridge Chamber Players, Old Town Hall has become an all-season community gathering place, history museum, concert hall, and permanent home for the Chamber Players.
“Art on Main” runs Friday, July 8 through Sunday, July 10 and Friday, July 15 through Sunday, July 17, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
