A recipe for Apple Chocolate Chip Bread from the kitchen of Kisti Ornellas and Francesco Gallo

Berkshire— My daughter has been fortunate to grow up close to my mother, a talented baker. She has enjoyed her grandmother’s love for baking through unforgettable birthday cakes, including a sloth, an ocean scene, a princess dancing with a beast, and a stunning pink triple-layer cake adorned with ghosts, just to name a few.

For me, the highlight of my mother’s baking is her apple chocolate chip bread. When we gathered a collection of apples from the orchard a couple of weeks ago, I knew I had to try my hand at making this special treat to share with my daughter. Everyone was happy I did, This bread is moist and sweet and so difficult to avoid when it’s nearby. If you bake just one thing this fall, let it be this delicious bread.

Apple Chocolate Chip Bread

3 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon baking soda
¼ teaspoon salt
3 cups sliced apples
1 cup vegetable oil
2 large eggs
1 ½ cups chocolate chips

Grease a loaf pan and preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Mix dry ingredients (except apples and chocolate chips) and wet ingredients in separate bowls.

Pour the bowl of wet ingredients into the bowl of dry ingredients and fold them together gently.

Add apples and chocolate chips and stir until just combined.

Pour mixture into prepared loaf pan and bake for 45 minutes.
