Frederick “Rick” Merrill, 69, of Stockbridge

A lifelong resident of the Berkshires, he was known for his musical talents in many different bands.

Frederick F. “Rick” Merrill, 69, of Stockbridge, passed away April 15, 2018, after a short illness.

Born May 29, 1948, in Pittsfield, he was the son of the late Ormand and Pauline Supranowicz Merrill. He was educated in Pittsfield schools. A veteran of the Vietnam War, Rick served with the U.S. Army from August 1967 until August 1970 and was the proud recipient of a Bronze Star. A lifelong resident of the Berkshires, he was known for his musical talents in many different bands. His most recent band, the Whitehouse Staff, played at many local establishments including the Brick House, Michael’s and the Lion’s Den. He also played at the Hard Rock Café in Boston and in Florida with other bands. Rick was a fundraiser for Irie’s Pet pantry in Stockbridge. In his earlier years, he was a car salesman in Pittsfield and later did interior design where his specialty was window treatments.

Rick is survived by his wife, Anne (Betsy) Campbell Manning; his son, Brian Merrill; Betsy’s son Shawn Manning; his cousins Martha and John White; and many other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his daughter, Gina Merrill; and Betsy’s son Eric Manning.

A celebration of Rick’s life will be announced at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Rick Merrill Memorial Fund in care of FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230, which is caring for the arrangements. Friends and family are welcome to gather on Friday, March 21, at 1 p.m., at the Monterey UCC Church, for a memorial. Afterwards, a reception will be held at the Monterey Community Center, from about 2 to 4 p.m., to spend some time together.

Richard B. Jamieson, 67, of Ashley Falls

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Jamieson residence on March 30, from 1 to 5 p.m.

Monica Ruth Pattangall, 80, of Lenox

A memorial service will be held in the spring, with a date to be determined. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be held in St. Ann Cemetery.
