Frederick Edward Duryea Jr., 72, of Great Barrington

Fred worked for over 20 years as a grinder at Sheffield Plastics, and was a South Egremont Volunteer Firefighter for over 15 years.

Frederick Edward Duryea Jr., 72, of Great Barrington, died Tuesday June 7, 2022 at his home.

Fred was born in Great Barrington on April 16, 1950, son of Frederick E. Sr. and Laura (Hawver) Duryea. Fred was a graduate of Mount Everett High School. He worked for over 20 years as a grinder at Sheffield Plastics. Fred was a communicant of the former South Egremont Congregational Church and was a South Egremont Volunteer Firefighter for over 15 years.

Fred’s wife, Helen (Farnum) Duryea, predeceased him. Fred is survived by two brothers, James Duryea of South Egremont and Roger Duryea and his wife Wendy of Otis; one sister, Nancy Duryea of Great Barrington; and nieces and nephews, Leticia, Cayden, James Jr., James III, Sarah, Jaime, Penny, Jason, Ray, and Timothy. In addition to his wife, Fred was predeceased by his parents and brother Dale Duryea.

A graveside service for Frederick Edward Duryea Jr. will be held Friday, June 17 at 11:30 a.m. in Hillside Cemetery in South Egremont. Expressions of sympathy in Fred’s memory may be made to Purradise (part of Berkshire Humane Society) in care of the Birches-Roy Funeral Home, 33 South St., Great Barrington MA 01230. Condolences may be made through the Birches-Roy website.

Francis Thomas Duke Jr., 82, of Lenox

The funeral for Mr. Francis T. Duke will be held on Friday, May 16, at 11 a.m., at Trinity Church in Lenox, with Rev. Michael Tuck officiating. Burial will be private in Corashire Cemetery in Monterey. There will be no calling hours.
