Fairview Hospital welcomed the first baby of 2018 on Jan. 2 at 2:54 a.m. Liliana Summer Roots was born to Michelle O’Boyle and James Roots of Hancock. She weighed 5 pounds, 9 ounces and was 18 and a half inches long. Liliana wears a unique baby cap hand-knit by Fairview volunteer Elaine Fitzpatrick of Great Barrington. Each month, Fitzpatrick knits a hat for each baby expected to be born at the Family Birthplace at Fairview.
