Fatal hit and run in Stockbridge

The incident remains under investigation.

Stockbridge — The Berkshire County District Attorney’s Office has reported a suspected fatal hit and run that took place on Saturday, Sept. 28.

According to Julia Sabourin, Director of Community Engagement and Communications for the District Attorney’s Office, at approximately 6:44 a.m. a motorist reported what appeared to be a person lying on the side of the road at the 4.1 mile marker on Route 102.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene and discovered an unresponsive male on the side of the road.

The person, who has not been identified by the District Attorney’s Office, was pronounced dead by a paramedic from Lee Ambulance.

Through the evidence recovered from the scene, including parts of a car, the incident has been determined to be a hit-and-run incident.

Evidence shows that the victim was riding an electric scooter when he was struck by a motor vehicle, and the motor vehicle fled from the accident scene.
The Berkshire Edge will update this story as more details become available.

Update September 28, 4 p.m: According to Sabourin, the identity of the victim will be announced later in the week. The victim’s extended family is still being notified of his death. State Police officials are still investigating the scene of the incident.
