Fairview Hospital thanks the community, and the feelings are mutual

Fairview shares a thank-you video message.

We received a thank-you-to-the-community video (click on the arrow in the image above to view) from Lauren Smith, Director of Community Relations at Fairview Hospital in Great Barrington, and thought it was worth sharing with you.

According to Lauren, Fairview always sends out a thank-you email to the community at the end of the year. But this year has been special. This year, in the course of the COVID pandemic, community support for the Fairview staff was extraordinary. Coffee, cookies and ice cream arrived regularly, as did hand-made bonnets, all sent by community residents. Ross and Lauren Cameron of Warrior Trading, the company that teaches stock trading online and from its storefront studio on Railroad Street in Great Barrington, sent food from local restaurants to Fairview staff twice a day two days a week. Plaskolite in Sheffield donated 200 sheets of 0.030 inch-thick clear plastic sheets, which Fairview used to make 300 face shields.

And at the very height of the pandemic, a team of volunteers did what it does every year…it produced the Fairview Gala, all online this year and still available to watch at bit.ly/fairviewgala2020.  On the video, you can see State Rep. Smitty Pignatelli , stepping up for Fairview as always, and this year he even arranged for Governor Charlie Baker to speak. And Fairview neighbors David and Judi Lazan connected the gala committee with their daughter-in-law Rachel Platten, whose songs furnished the musical theme for the Gala. The Fairview staff considers the Gala Committee to be incredible ambassadors for Fairview.

Filmmaker Ben Hillman created this this thank-you video primarily from footage shot earlier in the year and for the gala. Except for the last scene. Lauren tells us she invited Fairview staff to participate in this final scene, and expected maybe 10 to 15 people to show up. Instead, 50 people showed up. It was an expression of their tremendous gratitude to the community for its generosity and support.

And we at The Edge want to share their expression of gratitude with you, just as we also thank the dedicated staff at Fairview for their service to all of us, especially during this particularly stressful year.
