To the editor:
The role of a Select Board member requires both commitment and knowledge. The need is for someone who not only has the time but also experience in the complexities of local government. Rene has both. And there will be no learning curve with her, a big positive during transition when we are about to get a new town administrator.
The process of hiring a new town administrator, building a new highway garage, and seeking grants for roads, bridges, housing, and education requires experience and knowledge. Rene’s experience and knowledge make her the best choice for the job.
Rene has given countless hours to the benefit of the town. She is bright, extremely capable, and “gets things done.” Her breadth of knowledge about resources and grants is deep, directly benefiting the transfer station, the town park, and especially the police and fire departments, in addition to direct benefits adding $1.5 million for Housatonic River Restoration, $3 million in Community Block Grants, and $250,000 for software updates in the Town Hall.
Rene is tireless and has boundless energy and her only business is town business!
While I do not always agree with Rene, I respect what she has contributed to Sheffield over the years and will give her my vote on May 12.
