West Stockbridge 250th Anniversary Celebration

July 6 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

This July, West Stockbridge will celebrate 250 years since the town was officially organized in 1774. We will have a town wide celebration focusing on the West Stockbridge community and history of the town using the historic buildings and shops in town as a centerpiece.

The day will start with a small fife and drum parade on Main Street ending at the Old Town Hall. There will be an opening presentation at the building with the Selectboard, Smitty Pignatelli, and Gene Dellea. Then morning activities will be centered around the Old Town Hall, with historic exhibits inside, and the adjacent parking lots with old farm machinery, cider press, and old vehicle displays. We will have a special reading for children around 11:30.

At lunchtime, Parks & Recreation will have a children’s-oriented barbeque in the Upper Parking Lot. There will be other food options available.

In the afternoon, people can circulate through the town, visiting the Congregational Church/stores/historic buildings. There will be a history walk/talk on Main Street, and a presentation and demonstration on the quarry industry by Vern Tower at Turn Park.

Later in the afternoon, for the closing, we will sponsor a community gathering on the Foundry Green where people can mingle and enjoy music, and refreshments.
