We Are The Music Makers: A Benefit for Berkshire Children’s Chorus

March 8 @ 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm

$100 – $250

The Board of Trustees of Berkshire Children’s Chorus invites supporters to the organization’s annual benefit concert, entitled “We Are The Music Makers,” on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 4:00 pm at Ventfort Hall in Lenox, Mass.

Following a highly successful event last year, the Chorus is pleased to announce that acclaimed mezzo soprano Adriana Zabala and collaborative pianist JJ Penna are returning, and this time they will be joined by Yale Opera singers Rosario Armas, John Arlievsky, and Shyheim Selvan Hinnant. As always, the event will also feature singers from Berkshire Children’s Chorus. Mobile caterers Higher Bar will provide creative cocktails, non-alcoholic beverages, and snacks.

Adriana Zabala is an internationally acclaimed vocal artist with more than 50 operatic roles to her credit. She has been a guest soloist with leading orchestras across the United States, and has appeared in recitals at prestigious venues such as the Kennedy Center and Carnegie Hall. She is an associate professor of voice at Yale University and recently performed the role of Madeline in Jake Hegge’s Three Decembers with Berkshire Opera Festival. Learn more about Adriana Zabala at https://www.adrianazabala.com/.

JJ Penna has performed extensively with a variety of eminent singers. He has held fellowships at the Tanglewood Music Center, Banff Center, and San Francisco Opera’s Merola Opera Program, to highlight a few. He has been on the faculties of the Juilliard School and Westminster Choir College, among others. He currently teaches at the Yale University School of Music, the New England Conservatory, and the Steans Institute of the Ravinia Festival.

Tickets are $100 or $250 each and can be purchased at berkshirechildrenschorus.org. This year, the event aims to raise $10,000.00. $250 ticket holders get premier seating at the concert and a listing in the playbill for the Chorus’ May concert at Tanglewood. $65 tickets are available to Chorus alumni.

All donations will support Berkshire Children’s Chorus’ efforts to make sure “Every Voice Belongs,” including a sliding scale tuition model, rehearsal locations in Pittsfield and Sheffield, a pilot program in North Adams, and concerts that are offered free of charge. Berkshire Children’s Chorus is a 501(c)3 non-profit.
