The Berkshire Bach Harpsichord Festival 2024: Peter Sykes plays a 50th Anniversary Recital
September 21 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm
$40 – $45The Berkshire Bach Harpsichord Festival 2024 presents PETER SYKES in a solo harpsichord recital commemorating his public debut 50 years ago this year. He plays a new-to-him double manual instrument that he describes as “spectacular” both in looks and in sound that he acquired in 2024 with a legacy from one of his students. It is a little different from the one he used in his debut recital: an instrument that he and his father built in 1974, that he still owns, has modified over the years, and still uses for performing and teaching. Mr. Sykes is one of the most distinguished and creative keyboard artists performing today and is an important educator in the art of playing the harpsichord, with posts at The Juilliard School, Boston University, and the University of Michigan.
Join us for a special concert by this superb musician in repertoire by J.S. Bach and others that he has played, interpreted, and re-interpreted for audiences over a 50-year career, bringing something new to every performance.
