Stockbridge Sinfonia Concert

August 10 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Stockbridge Sinfonia, Berkshires’ longest running community orchestra, presents a Tribute to Ukraine, in concert on Saturday, August 10, 3:00 pm at Zion Lutheran Church, Pittsfield, with compositions by Ukrainian composers Prokofieff, Gliere and Skoryk, and the Ukrainian National Anthem, sung in Ukraine by members of three Berkshire choruses: Stockbridge Festival, Berkshire Concert, and Northern Berkshires. The concert will begin with the chorus and audience joining in song with America the Beautiful. The first half of the concert will conclude with a piece by Pittsfield High School junior Davis Albayeros, El Último Baile, for strings. The second half is a performance of Beethoven Seventh Symphony.
The 50 piece community orchestra consists of students ranging in age 13 through 22, and amateur and semi-professional adults up to age 90, who participate as volunteers. The Sinfonia season runs from the beginning of June through mid-August, and is conducted by Tracy Wilson. Students receive scholarships for participation, with over $5,000 awarded each year.
The concert is free and open to the public. Donations are always welcome.
