Phoenix in the Holy Land – A Play by JuPong Lin
March 29 @ 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm
$10
Phoenix in the Holy Land is a powerful cry against injustice. A new play created by artist and playwright JuPong Lin, it responds to the ongoing Nakba in Palestine, transforming the agony of witnessing atrocities into spaces of deep listening and courageous conversations. The play weaves together searing poetry, legal testimony, and voices of activists resisting violent occupation in the Levant. The play draws from South Africa’s genocide case against Israel presented to the International Court of Justice and the poetry of Refaat Alareer, Mahmoud Darwish, Mosab Abu Toha, Solmaz Sharif and others.
Premiering in October 2024 at CitySpace in Easthampton, Massachusetts, the production was led by director Ash Goverman and brought to life by a cast including Dan Cox, Francesca Hansen-DiBello, Elizabeth LaPrade, Patric Madden, and Charmaine Sutton.
This is more than a play. It is a call to witness, to listen, and to act. It turns grief into dialogue, silence into courage, and despair into resistance.
