The Spencertown Academy, in collaboration with the Freedom Quilting Bee Legacy, is very excited to announce an exhibition of the famous Gee’s Bend quilts, along with talks, workshops, and demonstrations by the quilters. This exhibit will feature more than 30 quilts created by six quiltmakers; second and third generation descendants of the celebrated women whose works exploded on the art scene in 2003. These special guests will be joining us from their home in Alabama for the opening weekend. This is the first time this generation has traveled outside of their community for such a major exhibition.
