Free violin and piano recital

July 1 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

The 21st St. John’s Summer Free Noontime concert series opens with a performance by violinist Emily Kalish and pianist Kyle Walker. The program “Classical Blues” features music by Gershwin, Ravel, David Baker, Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson, and Errollyn Wallen.

Emily Kalish, violinist, is a Berkshire native living, teaching, and performing in the New York City metropolitan area. She is a member of the Hudson Valley Philharmonic and was a member of the Binghamton Philharmonic for ten years. Kyle P. Walker, a critically acclaimed pianist with a passion for using music to address social issues, is on a mission to bridge traditional Western repertoire with the work of neglected composers from around the world. From his performances at South by Southwest (SXSW) Music Festival and NPR’s 1A to recitals at Carnegie Hall and The Apollo Theater, Walker’s heartfelt tone and dedication to activism have made him a standout in the classical music world.

Intimate setting, superb acoustics. Admission is free (donations welcome). Children are invited.
Concerts continue every Monday through August 12.
