Berkshire Bach debuts its new “BBS Portals–Films, Books, and Talks about Bach” with Strangers on the Earth by filmmaker Tristan Cook. The film follows American cellist Dane Johansen as he walks the Camino de Santiago, the ancient pilgrimage road from France to Spain, with his cello on his back and with stops to play Bach in churches along the way. Artistic Director Eugene Drucker opens the evening with a short performance and follows the screening with an interview with the filmmaker. The film is a fascinating account that mixes the spiritual and pragmatic aspects of the month-long trek and presents an opportunity for introspection and reflection as expressed through music. The film appeals to lovers of Bach’s music, but also to those who follow similar journeys, either spiritual or physical. Join us!
