If you have high blood pressure, diabetes, heart problems, smoke tobacco, are over age 55, have family history or take certain medications, you may be at risk for a stroke. Also known as a “brain attack,” a stroke occurs when a blood vessel carrying blood and oxygen ruptures or is blocked by a blood clot, halting the supply of vital nutrients to the brain. This no-cost, community benefit lecture will provide important information on the leading cause of serious, long-term disability in America and provide guidance on prevention, treatment and how you can help keep your brain healthy.
