Eugene F. Novicki, 86, of Ashley Falls

Eugene proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy during WWII and Korea. Eugene loved woodworking, gardening and fixing things; he could fix anything.

Eugene F. Novicki, 86, of Ashley Falls died Tuesday March 31, 2015 at his home. Eugene was born on June 6, 1928 in Millerton, N.Y., last of seven children of Anthony and Rose (Krynovack) Novicki.

Eugene proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy during WWII and Korea. He lost most of his finger while stationed at Pearl Harbor during the Korean War. Eugene worked as a master plumber for a paper mill in Millerton, N.Y., Dick Snyder Plumbing in Millerton, N.Y., and B & D for 20 years, retiring in 1992. Eugene loved woodworking, gardening and fixing things; he could fix anything.

Eugene’s wife Norma (Rote) Novicki, whom he married on August 15, 1955, predeceased him on January 28, 2009. Eugene is survived by one son, Joseph and his wife Maggie of Norfolk, Conn.; one daughter, Patricia Marshall of Southfield; nephew Jeff Johnson; nieces Barbara and Judy; four grandchildren, Jennifer, Jessica, Heidi and Lyndsy; six great grandchildren, cousin Agnes Novicki, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his wife Norma, Eugene was predeceased by one daughter, Elizabeth Novicki and grandson, Jeremy Bair.

Funeral services for Eugene F. Novicki who died March 31 were held on Friday, April 10, at Our Lady of the Valley Church with the Reverend Bruce N. Teague pastor officiating. Burial with Military Honors followed at Ashley Falls Cemetery. In keeping with Eugene’s wishes there were no calling hours. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy in Eugene’s memory may be made to Hospice Care in the Berkshires in care of the BIRCHES ROY FUNERAL HOME, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230. Thomas F. ‘Walt’ Palivoda, 72, of Housatonic

Walt’s family will receive friends on Friday, July 25, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed by a funeral service officiated by Deacon Ed Shaw at Birches-Roy Funeral Home. A reception will follow at Wyantenuck Country Club. Private burial will be at a later date.
