Ernest S. Hood, Jr., 58, of Otis, died Monday, Jan. 1, at Baystate Medical Center.
Born Aug. 26, 1959, he was the son of Ernest and Marion Gangloff Hood Sr. Ernest grew up in Otis was educated in the local school and graduated from the Lee High School class of 1977. Ernest continued his studies at SUNY-Delhi, graduating in 1979.
For the last 20 years, he was employed by Williams Stone Company in East Otis. Mr. Hood was a former member of the Otis School Committee. In his early years, Mr. Hood enjoyed racing cars at various venues, especially Lebanon Valley. Ernest was generous with his time, often helping his family and friends with their projects, and was great at repairing almost anything.
Besides his parents, Ernest leaves behind his son, Matthew R. Hood, of Lee; his sister, Laurie Puiia and husband Jerry of Glastonbury, Connecticut; his beloved niece and nephew Caitlyn and Christopher Puiia; and his beloved goddaughter Crissy Humason.
Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, Jan. 9, from 10 a.m. until noon at the Kelly Funeral Home. Burial will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
