Eleanor Francis Cross, 99, of Sheffield died peacefully at home with her loving granddaughter Kimberly by her side, on March 1, 2022. Eleanor was born in Sheffield on June 21, 1922, the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth Rose (McCormick) Benway. She worked for many years as a Registered Nurse.
Eleanor’s husband, Valmore F. Cross M.D., predeceased her on September 22, 2005. Eleanor is survived by her granddaughter Kimberly Krzynowek Farnen and her husband Brian, and two great-grandchildren, Ella and Chad. In addition to her husband, Eleanor was predeceased by one son, Richard “Dick” Krzynowek, and grandson Chad Krzynowek.
In keeping with Eleanor’s wishes, all services were private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Eleanor’s memory may be made to the Great Barrington Rotary Student Assistance Fund in memory of Chad Krzynowek, in care of Birches–Roy Funeral Home, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
