Eleanor Altrows, 87, of Otis

Residing in Otis for 32 years, she loved music and art, wildlife, and her cats.

Eleanor Altrows, 87, of Otis died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2019, at Mount Carmel Care Center in Lenox. She was born Aug. 29, 1931, in Montreal, Canada, the daughter of Jack and Rose Cohen. Eleanor was proud of her family and home, was an accomplished realtor, and enjoyed living in the Berkshires. Residing in Otis for 32 years, she loved music and art, wildlife, and her cats.

Eleanor is survived by two daughters, Rosanne Altrows and Linda Streeter; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Eleanor was predeceased by her brother Jerry.

A private graveside service for Eleanor was held in Ahavath Sholom Cemetery with Rabbi Barbara Cohen officiating. Condolences may be made through birchesroyfuneralservices.com.

There will be a gathering to celebrate the life of Maureen Johnson Hickey (1938-2025) at the Berkshire Botanical Gardens in Stockbridge on Saturday, June 28th from 1:00-3:00pm.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 26 from 4 to 7:00 p.m. at Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home in Great Barrington.  A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 27 at 10 a.m. at The First Congregational Church, 251 Main St., Great Barrington. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Great Barrington.

Janet C. Hutchinson, 80, of South Egremont

A celebration of Jan’s life will take place Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 3 p.m., at the Unitarian Universalist Meeting of South Berkshire. All are welcome to join in celebrating Jan’s life, followed by a reception.
