Edwin C. Hutchinson Jr., 81, of Lenox passed away on June 8, 2023 at Fairview Hospital in Great Barrington. He was born on July 4, 1941, the son of Edwin C. and Evelyn (Nichols) Hutchinson. He married his loving wife, Doreen, on August 13, 1993 in Fairhaven, Mass.
Edwin was an RN graduate of St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing. He served as a nurse since 1971. Chiefly, he served as a manager at both St. Luke’s in New Bedford and at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. He also assisted in the operating room. Later in his career, he worked at Fairview Hospital in Great Barrington assisting orthopedic surgeries.
Edwin was an avid golfer and was a member of the Wyantenuck Country Club. He and Doreen absolutely loved traveling. Notably, they went on 14 different river cruises all through Europe, and they created wonderful memories while they were exploring on their own.
Edwin was an active member of the former St. James Episcopal Church and the current Grace Episcopal Church since 1995. He held numerous roles, including Junior Warden, Senior Warden, and Acolyte Master. He was also active in the Episcopal Diocese of Western Massachusetts. His faith was important to him, and he always found ways to serve his community.
Edwin is survived by his wife, Doreen, and his children Bruce Hutchinson, Gregory Hutchinson, Annette (David) Conrad, Marianne Hutchinson, Branden Sylvia, Lisa Sylvia (Patrick O’Connell), Karen Hutchinson, and Patricia Hutchinson. He also leaves his grandchildren, Nicole Pomprowicz (and spouse Joe), Casey Michaud (and spouse Josh), Ryan Hutchinson (and partner Mindy Edgitt), Samantha Hutchinson, Sean Hutchinson (and spouse Julie), Enara O’Connell, and Charlotte Sylvia. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Chloe Pomprowicz, Declan Hutchinson, Emma Hutchinson, and Presley Hutchinson.
He was predeceased by his parents and his grandson, David Conrad Jr.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at 10 a.m. at Chrissy Farms, 426 Stockbridge Road, Great Barrington, MA 01230. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., and a reception will follow.
