Dorothy L. Cronin, 87, of Great Barrington

Dorothy enjoyed baseball, bingo, knitting, baking and especially trips to Foxwoods and Atlantic City.

Dorothy L. Cronin, 87, of Great Barrington died Sunday June 12, 2016 at home with her loving family by her side. Dorothy was born in Stockbridge on March 13, 1929, the daughter of Maurice and Blanche (Bacon) Decker. Dorothy attended local schools and attended the former Williams High School in Stockbridge. Dorothy’s husband, Joseph Cronin, whom she married on June 5, 1948, in Corpus Christi Church in Housatonic, predeceased her on April 14, 2010. Dorothy enjoyed baseball, bingo, knitting, baking, and especially trips to Foxwoods and Atlantic City.

Dorothy is survived by three sons: John Cronin of Great Barrington, Thomas Cronin of Great Barrington, and Joseph Cronin of Canaan, Conn.; three daughters: Maureen Avery and husband, Bob, of Great Barrington, Coreen Burnett and husband, Larry, of Damascus, Md., and Doreen Kahlstrom and husband, Jack, of Sheffield; one brother: Kenneth Kushi of Sheffield; seven grandchildren: Sara Avery, Bridget Krans, Joseph Burnett, Sean Cronin, Jeremiah Cronin, Scott Kahlstrom and Joellyn Stortecky; and six great grandchildren: Sophia Krans, Ainsley Krans, London Krans, Wyatt Stortecky, Nash Stortecky and Lydian Stortecky. In addition to her husband, Dorothy was predeceased by her brother, Maurice Decker; and grandson, Justin Cronin.

Funeral services for Dorothy L. Cronin will be held on Friday, June 17, at 10 a.m. with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at Saint Peter’s Church with Reverend William P. Murphy Pastor officiating. Burial will follow in Saint Peter’s Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 17, from 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. at the BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Dorothy’s memory may be made to either St. Peter’s Food Pantry or HospiceCare of the Berkshires in care of the BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME.
