Donald ‘Spike’ Pelkey, 30, of Lee

Spike worked for Eastover Resort, Price Chopper and, most recently, as a cook at Michael’s Restaurant in Stockbridge.

Donald Roy “Spike” Pelkey III, 30, of Lee passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Aug. 25, at Baystate Medical Center due to complications from surgery .

Donald was born Sept. 9, 1987, in Springfield, the son of Deborah Drobiak Bressette and Donald R. Pelkey Jr. Spike was raised and educated in Lee and was a 2006 graduate of Lee High School.

Spike worked for Eastover Resort, Price Chopper and, most recently, as a cook at Michael’s Restaurant in Stockbridge. An ardent New England sports fan, he followed the New England Patriots, and Boston Bruins, Red Sox and Celtics, eagerly awaiting the next game. He loved fishing and taking road trips, especially to the ocean. While Spike loved to have a good time, he found great joy in making others laugh.

Donald leaves behind his mother, Deborah Bressette, of Winsted, Connecticut; his father, Donald Pelkey Jr., of Lee; his stepfather, Dean Loughman, of Chicopee; and his best friend and companion, Penny Bryans, and her children Paul and Ethan of Lenox. In addition, he leaves behind his brother, Jason Bressette and wife Katie of Buxton, Maine; his two sisters: Trisha Canfield and husband Alan of New Hartford, Connecticut, and Jennifer Pelkey and fiancé Chad Bliss of Lee; seven nephews: Tyler, Zach, Jack, Trevor, Mason, Max and Parker; and his niece: Kaylee. Donald also leaves behind his maternal grandparents: Richard and Barbara Drobiak of Brockton; his paternal grandparents: Donald and Patricia Pelkey of Lee; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who will miss him dearly.

A memorial service for Donald “Spike” Pelkey will be held Friday, Aug. 31, at noon at the Kelly Funeral Home. Visiting hours will be held Friday, Aug. 31, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate any donations to help defray the funeral expenses. Francis Thomas Duke Jr., 82, of Lenox

The funeral for Mr. Francis T. Duke will be held on Friday, May 16, at 11 a.m., at Trinity Church in Lenox, with Rev. Michael Tuck officiating. Burial will be private in Corashire Cemetery in Monterey. There will be no calling hours.
