Pittsfield — On July 31 in Berkshire Superior Court, resident Trevon Thompson pleaded guilty to two charges from an arrest in February 2023.
According to a press release by the Berkshire County District Attorney’s Office, Thompson was originally arrested in February 2023 as part of an investigation into drug trafficking in North Adams.
Thompson was sentenced by Judge John A. Agostini for the two charges.
For the charge of Possession of Class B with Intent to Distribute, Thompson was sentenced to two and a half years to the House of Corrections, with a suspended sentence with the following conditions: Thompson must complete a substance abuse evaluation, remain drug-free, and submit to random drug screenings.
For the charge of Possession of Heroin with intent to Distribute, Thompson was sentenced to three years probation.
Resident pleads guilty to multiple firearms charges
On July 30, resident Ryan Starbird, 20, entered an agreed guilty plea and was sentenced in Berkshire Superior Court by Judge Agostini.
The case stems from a 2023 incident in a parking lot at the Berkshire Crossing Shopping Plaza.
According to the District Attorney’s Office, Starbird had an illegal firearm in his possession when he got into an altercation with another male within Starbird’s age range. The two men were fighting about a girl. During the altercation, Starbird’s gun discharged.
While Starbird sustained an injury to his hand, the victim in the case suffered an injury to his groin. Starbird did not have a license to carry a firearm.
Starbird was sentenced to two and a half years to the House of Corrections for Illegal Possession of a Firearm, three years probation after jail for Illegal Possession of A Loaded Firearm, three years probation for Assault and Battery By Means Of A Dangerous Weapon – Causing Serious Bodily Injury, three years probation for Discharging a Firearm Within 500 Feet of a Building, and three years probation for Assault And Battery By Discharging a Firearm.
