Nick Diller’s monthly weather summary

May was a month that featured most of the types of weather that our Berkshires could have: rain, snow, and the hot, humid conditions of summer.

Editor’s Note: Introducing a new feature to The Edge: Nick Diller’s monthly weather summary. Diller keeps daily temperature and precipitation data from his weather station at his Anderson Street residence.

Great Barrington — May 2016 turned out to be slightly warmer and drier than the 51-year average. It was a month that featured most of the types of weather that our Berkshires could have: rain, snow, and the hot, humid conditions of summer.

We had rain for the first week. Some snow flurries in the middle of the month. And finally some hot, humid more summer-like weather at the end.

Rainfall totaled 3.18 inches and that made this May the 13th driest. The average is 4.5.

The months average high of 70 which featured one 90 plus reading Memorial Day weekend was equal to the 51 year average. The low reading of 48 was 3 degrees above average. The mean temp finished 2 above average.

That summed up May.

I hope you have a wonderful June.
