Let’s see:
Roe will be overruled, probably allowing states to set the rules for a woman’s body. The Supreme Court will then have the opportunity and will alter settled law which does not jibe with the majorities’ opinion of what the original intent of the founders’ was. This reasoning and such opinions will be a justification to allow the six conservative justices to impose their right wing religious and restrictive views of individual rights.
As Justice Holmes said, the law is what the judge says it is, or in this case, what the Supreme Court interprets it to be. Judges can find cases and reasons to justify almost any decision, and this concept, and their incorrect view of “legal realism”, does not encompass what is good for the nation and will alter our democracy in ways which will dramatically change the country. The separation of church and state will be almost disappear, and their decisions will reach into areas that heretofore were accepted as settled law.
There is no hope here, except to be stalwart in defending our democracy through political action, primarily by being active in working for good candidates, running for government office and voting. There will be no impeachment of these judges, nor will there be any alteration to the Court itself which will affect them.
Let’s see:
There will be no effective gun control while we have the Second Amendment. Period.
We just have to accept the fact that we will have 45,000 or so people dying every year from the barrel of a gun (suicides and murders). All the attempts of regulation of any substance will be turned aside by the Supreme Court, and the attempts to craft regulations at the state level will be minor at best.
Let’s see:
How do you regulate hate. Put simply, you can’t. The country is divided as is obvious every day. Much of that division is based on bigotry, particularly the concern of many white people who are not willing to be a minority. This horror was unleashed by the candidacy and election of our last President. Trump who didn’t create this racism and gender phobia; he just made it acceptable as a basis for political and social action. The Supreme Court will take cases on gender equality, same sex-marriage, transgender rights, immigration, racial inequality, reproductive rights, etc. and will start removing heretofore accepted protections which will enhance bigotry. You think replacement theory is reprehensible, how about the belief by millions of Republicans that Hillary Clinton and the Jews run a pedophile ring out of a Washington pizza parlor. Hate is winning, and it is getting worse.
Let’s see:
How do you turn aside the tsunami of hate and mistrust so that we become a democracy which will try to govern for the benefit of the entire nation? Based on the mid-terms, where Republicans backed and nominated primary candidates who still believe the last presidential election was stolen, after 63 court cases decided otherwise (even the conservative Supreme Court), it seems impossible. You can’t regulate stupidity and bigotry.
