David Grant Parsons, 87, of Pittsfield, MA passed away on June 26, 2025 at his home in Cheshire, MA while surrounded by his family.

Dave, affectionately known as Choppy, Grampy, Dad, Big-D, Kissy Face, lived a life full of love, hard work, and dedication to his family. He was known for his gentle spirit, his stories that spanned generations, and his unwavering support for those he loved. Whether it was through his work, his hobbies, or simply his presence, Dave made his world a better place.

Dad leaves behind a legacy of love and strength, survived by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who will carry his memory in their hearts forever.  He was an avid animal lover and pets of all kinds, loved to be near him.

Dave was a devoted and loving husband, loving father, respected member of the Pittsfield and Lenox communities.

Dave was born on August 22, 1937 in Pittsfield, MA to Arlene Grant Roisseaux and David E Parsons.

Dave/dad is survived by Joanne Ruberto Parsons, his wife of 67 years; daughters Katherine Boenitz; Nance Parsons; Wendy and husband Peter St. Laurent; Deborah and husband Dennis Lynch; grandchildren Lauren, David, Britney and husband Anthony, Alyssa, Grant and wife Jesicca, John, Jr; brother Paul Atkinson; great-grand children Lincoln, Coda, Nico, and Sebastain.

Dave is preceded in death by sister Judith Jordan.

Grampy was best known for his always-smiling and friendly face in the local First National and Stop and Shop where he was head meat cutter for many years.  Known for his never-ending and often-repeated stories of lore, he was quick with old sports stats and memories of watching his favorite teams.  Choppy was most proud of the four years he spent in the US Army as an M45 quad 50 repair tech, serving his time in Osaka, Japan.

Though Dave may be gone from our sight, he will never be gone from our hearts.  May he rest in peace and eternal light shine upon him.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10am at St. Joseph’s in Pittsfield, MA on Saturday, June 28, 2025.  Reception to follow.
