Daniel J. Pupo, 89, of Cheshire died peacefully in the comfort of his home after a brief illness. He was a lifelong resident of Berkshire County. Daniel was born on January 8, 1934 in Pittsfield to the late Dominic and Bessie Stache Pupo. He attended Pittsfield High School and was a 1951 graduate.

After high school, Daniel enlisted in the United States Marines and was honorably discharged in 1956 with the rank of Sergeant. He then began working as a bulldozer operator building the Massachusetts Turnpike for Abby & Sons of Lee. Mr. Pupo worked for General Electric Co. until his retirement after 27 years. He later enjoyed his work with the National Archives in Pittsfield.
Daniel was a communicant of St. Ann’s Church in Lenox, where he and his late wife, Judy, raised their four children. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hikes through the Berkshire hills, spending time on his property in Vermont, and splitting his own wood. He and Judy loved traveling to coastal Maine, Florida, and California, often visiting family and friends.
Mr. Pupo married Judith Ann Perkins on July 13, 1957 in Pittsfield; they were married for 64 years. She predeceased him on May 30, 2017.
He is survived by his children, Joseph D. Pupo (Lisa) of Pennsylvania, Michael S. Pupo of California, Lisa M. Suchman (Scott) of North Carolina, and David L. Pupo of Pittsfield; his grandchildren, Alec and Kali Pupo and Jessica Mooney (Will); and many nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, Judy, and parents, Daniel is predeceased by his siblings, Frank and Barbara.
There will be a graveside service on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 11 a.m. in Mountain View Cemetery, with monsignor John Bonzagni, officiating. There will be no calling hours.
