Crissey Farm to be sold to Egremont property group

Details of the sale emerged as part of the Great Barrington Selectboard meeting on Monday, April 28.

Great Barrington — Banquet facility Crissey Farm, located at 426 Stockbridge Road, will be sold to a local property group based in Egremont.

Details of the sale emerged as part of the Great Barrington Selectboard meeting on Monday, April 28. At the meeting, a public hearing was held on the transfer of the on-premise license from current co-owners Andrew Mankin and Gary Happ to Blunt Property Group LLC managers Daniel Baker and Daniel Latzman.

Mankin and Happ also co-own Barrington Brewery, next door to Crissey Farm. Barrington Brewery opened in 1995, and Crissey Farm, which was built on an adjacent lot, opened in 2007.

According to documents in the Selectboard meeting informational packet, Baker and Latzman are purchasing the property, along with its assets, for $1.4 million.

The property was listed by William Pitt Sotheby’s Realty late last year.

Baker spoke at the April 28 public hearing about the purchase. “Daniel and I intend to continue the traditions established at Crissey Farm over the decades,” Baker said. “We worked very closely with Andrew and Gary to ensure a safe transition of the property and site. It is our plan for the imminent future to carry on with what they have done.”

“Gary and myself have been working with them for a smooth transition,” said Mankin. “They’ll be taking over events that they have already booked. We’ve been impressed by their business-like manner. They are also very interested in keeping up the idea of being a community-minded business the way Gary and I have done.”

The Selectboard unanimously approved the license transfer.

According to the documents, the closing of the sale is scheduled to take place around June 3.
