Coralice (Coree) Potter Michaelyan, 92, of Great Barrington died on July 31 at Fairview Hospital, surrounded by her beloved children and friends, after a long illness.
A resident of Great Barrington since 1955, she was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1925 to Milton and Hester Potter. She was a great lover of animals and nature. She started her work life as a dental hygienist in New York City and then, when she moved to Great Barrington, she and her husband established and operated Berkshire Carpets and Interiors for many years. She worked several years as a sales rep for the Lakeville Journal. She was a member of the Thursday Morning Club, a past volunteer at the Great Barrington senior center, a past member of the local chapter of the NAACP and a lifelong proud Democrat.
She is survived by her beloved children Raine Hall Rawlins and husband Alan of Macon, Georgia, and Homer, Alaska; her son, Brian, and his sons Patrick and Kevin of Cape Cod and Boston; beloved cousin Muriel Alwaise-Costantini of Venice, Italy; and beloved friend Jane Green of Great Barrington; as well as several close nieces and nephews and former daughter-in-law Pamela of Pennsylvania. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Fred; her sister, Emily; and her brother, Neil.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, Aug. 5, at 10 a.m. at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME in Great Barrington, followed by a service at 11 a.m. conducted by RC Deacon James McElroy. Burial will follow immediately at Saint Peter’s Cemetery. There will be a memorial celebration of her life at a future date.
