Clarence S. Gunn Jr., 96, of Great Barrington  

Mr. Gunn had been a lifelong member of the A.M.E. Zion Church on Elm Court.

Great Barrington — Clarence Sylvester Gunn Jr. died peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, Jan. 29, 2017. He was 96 years old. For the past two years, he had been a resident at the Fairview Commons Nursing Home in Great Barrington. Mr. Gunn had been a lifelong member of the A.M.E. Zion Church on Elm Court.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 66 years, A. Elaine Scott Gunn, five children, nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and three devoted nephews.

“Moe,” as he was affectionately known all his life, was a WWII vet. He loved to travel, and to golf and play basketball.

The funeral will be Thursday, February 2 at 11 a.m. at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME in Great Barrington, conducted by Rev. Brent Damrow. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 2nd from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
