Christine Silvernail, 97, a longtime resident of Baldwin Hill in North Egremont died on August 24, 2015, at Kimball Farms in Lenox.
Born in Housatonic, Mass., on December 22, 1917, she was the daughter of Thomas S. and Helen Tobey Ramsdell.
A graduate of Katherine Gibbs, Christine worked at the Rockefeller Foundation in New York City and later for Colonel Harwood at the American Institute for Economic Research in Great Barrington.
Christine was a veteran of World War II. As a member of the Signal Corp she served in Naples and Leghorn, Italy. After a year and a half she was honorably discharged as a lieutenant.
She was an active member of the First Congregational Church in South Egremont where she served as the President of the Ladies Aide for 20 years. She was also a member of the Wyantenuck Country Club.
Christine is survived by her two daughters, Ellen Swayne and her husband Mark of Simsbury, Conn., and Jean Waggoner and her husband Edward of Housatonic and her two granddaughters, Christine and Alison Swayne.
She was predeceased by her husband Charles Roy Silvernail on March 14, 2001. The couple was married in 1950 in Great Barrington.
The funeral will be held on Friday, August 28 at 10 a.m. at the First Congregational Church, South Egremont, conducted by Pastor Kevin Smail. Burial will follow at Peltonbrook Cemetery in Great Barrington.
