CHP Berkshires’ commitment to providing access to quality healthcare remains steadfast after 50 years

The compassionate, fighting spirit of CHP is alive and well. Now more than ever, your investment in making healthcare accessible to your family, friends, and neighbors is critical, and your financial support will have an immediate and direct impact.

To the editor:

Your recent article shouldn’t overshadow the fact that CHP is celebrating 50 years of caring for Berkshire residents. CHP came about in 1975 thanks to the intrepid warrior spirit of doctors and nurses who saw a need for patient care and made it happen. Since then, we have faced financial challenges and prevailed thanks to creative solutions, strong board leadership, committed staff, generous donors, and community support.

We are saddened by the loss of valued CHP staff who are dedicated to our mission and community, talented at their jobs, and excellent people. During the last year, we have responsibly managed staffing reductions and program changes by prioritizing patient care. No providers’ positions have been impacted, and every effort has been and will continue to be made to protect our vital patient-care and social-support services.

The suspension of our long-standing mobile health operation is necessary due to the changing ways community members seek healthcare. However, our commitment to providing access to quality healthcare remains steadfast.

The compassionate, fighting spirit of CHP is alive and well. Now more than ever, your investment in making healthcare accessible to your family, friends, and neighbors is critical, and your financial support will have an immediate and direct impact.

Visit CHP Berkshires’ website to ensure CHP is here for our community’s health and well-being for the next 50 years.

Thank you, William P. Perry, for highlighting Herman Melville’s poetry

Good for Mr. Perry for sharing Melville's quote, by way of characterizing his epic Clarel, "It is better to fail in originality than to succeed in imitation."

We are now living in a fascist MAGA America

We must not rest on the success of the recent elections. As we were warned by the Democrats in the 2024 campaign, our democracy is at risk.

Analysis of Article 5 of the proposed changes to Egremont’s zoning bylaws

As many townspeople have suggested, this special town meeting should be postponed. But the Select Board does not have the gumption to do that. Sigh!
