Charlotte M. Peretti, 84, of Great Barrington

Funeral services for Charlotte M. Peretti will be held on Tuesday, March 4, at 10 a.m., with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at Saint Peter’s Church in Great Barrington, with Reverend William P. Murphy Pastor officiating. Burial will follow in Saint Peter’s Cemetery.

Charlotte M. Peretti, 84, of Great Barrington, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 27, 2025, surrounded by family. She was born on May 23, 1940, daughter of John and Mary A. “Molly” Owens (McManus).

Charlotte was educated in local schools and was a graduate of the former Searles High School class of 1958. While in high school, she played on the basketball and softball teams and participated in many social activities. She worked for Smith Watson as a bookkeeper for many years. Charlotte loved sports and was an avid bowler and golfer, even recording a hole in one on a par three in Hilton Head Country Club in South Carolina; she was a fan of the Boston Red Sox; and she was an inaugural member of the Girls Drill Team in Great Barrington.

Charlotte is survived by her husband of 63 years, Albert Peretti of Great Barrington, whom she married on February 17, 1962, in Saint Peter’s Church in Great Barrington; her son Michael Peretti (Julie) of Great Barrington; her two daughters, Theresa Amstead (Mark) of Monterey and Jeanne Peretti of Longmeadow, Mass.; her brother Vincent Owens; and her five grandchildren, Christopher (Megan) and Evan Peretti and Molly, Mitchell, and Matthew Amstead. Charlotte was predeceased by a brother, John Owens.

Funeral services for Charlotte M. Peretti will be held on Tuesday, March 4, at 10 a.m., with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at Saint Peter’s Church in Great Barrington, with Reverend William P. Murphy Pastor officiating. Burial will follow in Saint Peter’s Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Monday, March 3, from 4 to 6 p.m., at the Birches-Roy Funeral Home, 33 South Street, Great Barrington, MA. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Charlotte’s memory may be made to the Southern Berkshire Volunteer Ambulance Service in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be made through the funeral home’s website.

Family will receive friends at Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home on Monday, March 9, from 5 to 7 p.m. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 10, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Great Barrington. Interment will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Dr. Stephen Kaufman, 81, of Eliot, Maine

The funeral will take place at Dewey Hall in Sheffield on Monday, March 2, 2026, at 11 a.m., followed immediately by internment at Ahavath Sholom Cemetery in Great Barrington. A livestream of the funeral service will be available.
