Browns Summit, N.C. – Charles “Chuck” Allen Farrington died on Monday August 3, 2015, in the afternoon. Chuck was born on June 17, 1961 at Fairview Hospital in Great Barrington, Mass., to Oliver Allen Farrington and Jennie Theresa Szwyd Farrington. His paternal grandparents were Clifford Charles Farrington and Ethel Brasie Farrington of Lenox Dale. His maternal grandparents were Franciszek (Frank) Szwyd and Tekla Madej Szwyd from Poland.
Chuck lived in Florida as a teenager but returned to the Berkshires to begin work at Barrett Lumber and then Tallon Lumber where he did various jobs. Chuck began working at Berkshire Corporation in Great Barrington nineteen years ago where he was employed initially as a custodian. His inquisitive nature prompted him to continue his studies and pursue an education in chemistry. He then moved into a role as Lab Technician and eventually department supervisor.
Chuck was an avid nature photographer and studied poetry, meditation and most recently wood carving. His photographs were exhibited in many galleries in Greensboro, N.C., and he was a member of the Elements Gallery there. His creativity and initiative were evident in his contributions to all. At the Berkshire Corporation he designed equipment when none was available to do a specific task. His commitment to Berkshire was unwavering and when the lab moved to North Carolina in 2003, Chuck moved with it. In 2007 Chuck received another promotion to Lab Supervisor in North Carolina.
Chuck is survived by his cousin Nancy Pieraccini of Pittsfield and his best friends, Mike Magnotti and Kate Knapp of Alford, Mass., Randy Raker of Browns Summit, N.C., and many cousins, friends and co-workers both in the Berkshires and in North Carolina. He will be greatly missed by all.
A memorial service will be held at the gravesite at St Bridgett’s Cemetery in Housatonic, Mass., on Saturday, August 15 at noon, with the Reverend William P. Murphy officiating. BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME is entrusted with arrangements. Condolences may be made through birchesroyfuneralservices.com.
