Pittsfield resident Susanna Thomas, 47, was killed in a car accident on Wednesday, Aug. 7.

Lanesborough — Pittsfield resident Susanna Thomas, 47, was killed in a car accident on Wednesday, Aug. 7.

According to the Berkshire County District Attorney’s Office, at around 1:10 p.m. on August 7, town Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to an area between 782 and 785 Partridge Road for a single-vehicle collision.

First responders arrived at the scene within 90 seconds of being dispatched.

When they arrived, they found that the car Thomas was driving was engulfed in flames after colliding with a tree.

The first responders extinguished the flames and found Thomas in the driver’s seat, dead due to severe burns.

According to the District Attorney’s Office, early investigations indicate that the car was traveling at a high speed down Partridge Road when it struck a tree.

The speed limit on the road is 35 miles per hour, and investigators found no tire tracks on the road to indicate that Thomas attempted to brake before the collision.
